BRENTOR held a Good Friday Easter Ascent at the tor of St Michael’s Church for the third year running.

A cast of nine re-enacted the events of the very first Good Friday – the arrest, trial, crucifixion and death of Jesus. And, this year, despite the unpleasant weather, 30 locals, visitors and sightseers assembled to follow the event, and many chose to participate – dressing in first-century costume and enthusiastically joining in the crowd scenes.

Churchwarden-elect Helen Harris said: ‘This isn’t something we do for tourists, we’d do it anyway even if no-one else came. But it is lovely to have so many people enthusiastically joining in.’
