PEOPLE are being sought to become involved in the 900th anniversary celebrations of the Tavistock Pannier Market.
The town council is looking at forming a community group to run the celebrations, which will take place in 2005. It is acknowledged that Henry I signed the market charter for Tavistock in 1105.
Tavistock Forward member Graham Fitzpatrick, who was a key figure in the Tavistock Canal Bicentenary celebrations, has written to the town council asking for support for an idea to mark 900 years of the pannier market. The council is expected to call a meeting of interested parties in the near future.
