WALKHAMPTON Village Saturday Market and Coffee Shop and one of its regular stall holders, have recently been nominated in the Countryside Alliance Local Hero Awards.

The market and coffee shop has been nominated for the local enterprise award for efforts on sustaining a successful weekly market, which started on the closure of the village shop.

It provides a meeting place for the residents each week and the market side offers a good selection of local produce and craft.

Stallholders Frank and Sue Martin from Pizwell Farm in Postbridge, have also been nominated in the local food category.

Frank and Sue attend the market every week with beef, lamb and pork from their own farm and other members of the Meat Dartmoor group. Pizwell Farm has been retailing its own Dartmoor-reared meat for many years.
