Chetwynd Tamar League

Ordulph Taverners v

Milton Abbot

BEING put in to bat first the Ordulph set about their immediate task of trying to see off the threat of opening Milton bowler Marker.

This was achieved with success as Ordulph batsmen Statton, Hodges and Coad did a good job with only the loss of Coad during the first 25 overs and a respectable 74 on the scoreboard.

Building on this good start, Ordulph pushed their score along to 150 for 7 with useful contributions from Statton (26), Lethbridge (18) and Crowl (11).

Man of the Ordulph batting had to be P Hodges who in his first ever league game carried his bat for 30 overs to finish on 48 not out.

As ever, good bowling figures for Milton's bowler Marker, 2 for 13 off 12, backed up by E Sowersby with 2 for 36 off 8.

Milton set about their innings with runs initially slow to come, due mainly to tight bowling by Lethbridge (1 for 28 off 12) and Folley (1 for 33 off 9)., Despite the loss of Rowland to Rice and Skeets to Folley, Milton batsman Moles (35) kept the runs ticking over until being bowled by Brailey.

With the wickets of B Sowerby (31) and O Donnell falling to Brailey and Lethbridge the game looked evenly balanced.

The tide turned to Milton's favour with the arrival of guest batsman E Sowersby (57 not out) who with some big hitting took the score past the Ordulph's with one over to spare.

This week Ordulph entertain Bude at Kelly College.
