The first meeting has been held and the small committee is keen to encourage and support those within the community who wish to raise funds for this worthwhile charity.
All the money raised will help Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes or in one of the charity's hospices. Last year in Devon, Marie Curie Cancer Care provided care for more than 1,100 patients providing over 61,000 nursing hours.
The Cattle Trough Café in Tavistock recently held an event to raise funds for the charity, just one of many held this summer in Marie Curie Cancer Care's Blooming Great Tea Party campaign. The Tavistock and Yelverton fundraising group was presented with the cheque for £200 by the cafe's proprietor, Jenny Earley.
She was delighted to have been able to support the cause and was keen to acknowledge the generosity of her loyal customers and of Ward and Chowen.
