Tavistock 2

North Devon 1

THIS match on Saturday proved to be a thoroughly entertaining affair, with free flowing hockey from the outset.

The first half saw Tavistock creating many open play opportunities with fast movement and interplay.

After 20 minutes, a well-struck ball into the area from the left was deflected past North Devon's keeper with a deft touch from Jake Doney.

Just before the break, North Devon gained an equaliser with an attack down the right, finished by a flick.

The second half continued where the first had left off, with Tavistock pushing for the lead. Both teams had a player sent off for around ten minutes each, keeping the game very open.

Tavistock continued to have the majority of the opportunities and with around five minutes to go, a quick piece of interplay on the edge of the 25, saw Simon Marchant drive into the area and finish off a great move from a narrow angle.

Tavistock held their nerve in the final minutes coming close to a third on a few occasions before the final whistle.

The game proved to be a close encounter for Tavistock, but they deserved the win with an excellent passing performance.
