A 13-YEAR-old Tavistock boy is attempting a 10,000-metre swim to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief during March.
If Marc Kerswill completes his challenge he will be the first ever person to achieve it at Tavistock?s Meadowlands Pool.
Sporty Marc raised £150 for Macmillan last year when he took part in the Butlins Swimathon, finishing a 5,000-metre swim in
1 hour and 36 minutes.
This year he is doubling the distance which amounts to 400 lengths of the Meadowlands Pool and is hoping to complete it within three and a half hours.
Marc, a member of Tavistock Swimming Club, is looking for sponsorship for his mammoth challenge on March 16 which will take him into the local record books.
His mum Jo said the Year 9 Tavistock College pupil was very keen on swimming and rugby and, although he liked a challenge, he also enjoyed raising money for good causes.
Sponsorship forms are available at Jo?s in Plymouth Road or contact Jo Kerswill on 01822 617798. Butlins Swimathon runs from March 13-21. Contact Meadowlands Pool for more information on 01822 617774.
