I WOULD like to thank everybody who contributed to this year's Poppy Appeal, the total of which is nearing the £13,000 mark.  In particular I would like to thank all those who helped with collecting around town including the staff and cadets of 2312 (Tavistock) Squadron ATC who were, as always, well turned out and diligent.  I would also like to thank all the businesses in Tavistock who placed their poppy boxes in pride of place, a special mention for I Love Candy who collected over £350.  The children of Tavistock Primary also deserve a very special mention as they managed to collect £368.18, very well done!   Finally my thanks to Mr Malcolm Christie and Mrs Charlotte Anderson, who dedicated a great deal of their time during the Poppy Appeal period.   The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is an important charity event and I thank you all for your continued support. Gill Bennet Tavistock Poppy Appeal Organiser A HUGE thank you to all who kindly donated to Gables Farm Cats' and Dogs' Home. I was able to take enough washing powder for three hundred and thirty washes!  Also seven large dog beds plus pads and blankets and hand knitted blankets, five dog coats, including a Burberry and Biggles jacket — very posh.  Sacks of cat food, treats, tinned food and thirty pouches of food, bags of Complete dog food large and small, Primula cheese,  large carrier bags full of biscuits, treats, toys, balls and a collar and lead.  Thank you to Gary from Ron's Pet Shop, Tavistock Market and Hazel from Dogsbodies, Callington. Gables were delighted! A Happy Christmas to you all. Wendy Johnson Callington CAN I thank and congratulate both the musical performers and organisers for the 'Random Acts of Kindness' event held last Friday evening at Tavistock College. What a spectacular and inspiring example of the young people of Tavistock doing a really good thing; raising £100 plus donating a small mountain of food for the Tavistock Foodbank. The Tavistock Rotary Interact group is a brilliant collaboration between Tavistock College and Mount Kelly students, entirely student led, and with the aim of making a difference - and what a difference! Music to delight; homemade cakes to savour; events planned to perfection, and all for a vital cause at Christmas, the foodbank. Graham Coiley Tavistock I WOULD like to thank everyone who attended Tavistock Musical Theatre Company's production of 'Broadway Nights' at Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall on the night of Children In Need. A collection was made at the end of the show and more than £110 was raised for the charity. I would also like to thank everyone who has supported our Showbiz Supper Cabaret around West Devon and 'Broadway Nights' at the Wharf Theatre in October, raising funds for a big musical production in October 2015. Watch our for news in 2015. May I wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year on behalf of Tavistock Musical Theatre Company. Julian J Bennett Chairman Tavistock Musical Theatre Company
