WE would like to pass on our sincere thanks to the many people who helped to make Sourton?s recent flower festival and country fair such a success.

The people involved are far too numerous to mention individually but they include all the helpers who spring cleaned the church, the flower arrangers and the stewards for the flower festival and the readers, clergy and the Okehampton choir for the festival evening service.

Twenty-five local businesses donated prizes for the grand draw at the country fair, 18 local shopkeepers provided tombola prizes, four companies provided discounted food for our refreshments and two companies gave a discount on our hire equipment for the competitions.

There was a happy atmosphere throughout the four days, culminating in the joyful festival evening service.

We thank God for blessing our events with perfect weather and for the fellowship we enjoyed. We thank the children of Holsworthy Majorettes and the Future Generation who danced and sang for us, and our local guitarist and organist for the music in the hall and church.

The teddy bear parachute jump was great fun and supervised by the Army. Thank you very much to everyone!

Our next project will be providing cream teas in the parish hall for Dartmoor walkers and cyclists and walkers on the cycle track. Anyone who might like to join us is very welcome every Sunday afternoon in August from 3pm to 6pm.

We raised over £2,300 during the June weekend thanks to the generosity of so many people.
