YOUR front page article on Princetown War Memorial is misleading beacause we are led to believe that the WI women are responsible for the upkeep of the memorial — this is just not the case. I have lived in Princetown all my life and it's such a shame that you have not mentioned other people that year in, year out, have kept the war memorial in immaculate condition. To name but a few, George Williams before he died so suddenly. Then my dad 'Twin' Cribbett along with James Langton took it over. When James left the village and in later years when my dad got too ill to do it, Doug Jenner took over and has been doing it every year since then. Im sure the village people will agree that the memorial always looks clean and tidy for the November service to remember the people who gave their lives fighting for our country, who were all heroes in past and present conflicts. I don't want you to think I'm ungrateful towards all the WI efforts, they've all done a great job and it looks lovely. But other people have contributed too in keeping our war memorial in a good condition. Sheila Coates Princetown
