FOR his final annual report as chairman of Okehampton Hospital Friends, John Marvin expressed thanks to all who had contributed to another successful year. Stepping down after his three-year term in office, Mr Marvin discussed the year?s highlights, including a record hospital week in July and an excellent result for the Christmas fair and draw. He also spoke of how a number of families had kindly arranged ?in memoriam? donations to the Okehampton friends after the loss of a family member. He also mentioned the women?s NFU donated £500, and at a lunch organised by Northlew AFC £400 was raised in aid of the friends. Treasurer Martin Perry reported the friends had been able to provide £6,000 for the provision of a number of items for the hospital, including the newly refurbished Redvers Garden. Other items provided during 2005 were a specialised bedside crib, toys for younger patients, a tilt bed and equipment for the eye clinic.
