AN eclectic mix of young musicians are now meeting in Tavistock each week as part of a new scheme to widen their experience of ensemble playing.

The youngsters from primary schools all over the Tavistock area, as well as Tavistock Community College, have the opportunity to meet each week at the college.

Under the tutelage of experienced music teachers, they can join an orchestra, electric guitar group or any other ensemble if there is a demand.

It is hoped there will be a concert each term for the children to show what they have been doing.

Organiser Barry Albrighton said any pupil learning a musical instrument in the Tavistock area could go along to the college's music suite on a Thursday evening to join in.

The sessions start at 4pm and run for an hour and a half. They cost £15 for a series of ten sessions.
