FUNDRAISING events to help to replace the play park in the Tavistock Meadows took on a seasonal theme last week with a wreath-making course at the Bedford Hotel.
With expert guidance from A Scent-Sation, 36 ladies were shown the subtle and sometimes prickly art of Christmas wreath-making.
The Bedford Hotel very kindly supplied mulled wine and mince pies and a good evening was had by all.
More than £300 was raised on the night, all of which will be ploughed into helping to improve Tavistock Meadows.
Keri Pierce from the Meadows Makeover team said: 'We had a fantastic evening and we all got to take home beautiful wreaths to decorate our homes for Christmas as well as raising essential funds for the Meadows' Makeover.'
The next fundraising event is especially for children.
A children's party will take place in the town hall on Monday, December 23, from 11am to 1pm for children up to four years and 3pm to 5pm for four to eleven year olds.
Father Christmas will be on hand to take a note of all those last minute requests and be handing out a Christmas gift to each child.
There will also be face-painting, games, music, dancing, lunch and tea will be included.
Tickets are £7 and then £5 for each sibling in advance only from Play Planet, Tavistock.
