WEST Devon Borough Council is urging the public to get involved in the GM foods debate and make their views known by the July 18 deadline.
The council has decided that as this issue is now the subject of a national debate, rather than it adopting a formal policy, individuals should be encouraged to have their say.
The national debate process on GM foods is being organised by the independent GM Debate Steering Board which will collate all views on the issue and report back to the Government in late September.
The Government has committed itself to make a written response to the report and take account of the outcome from the public debate when it makes its decision on GM issues.
West Devon Borough Council is keen to see individuals make their own views known on the issue.
To have your say, you can order an information pack ? GM Nation? The Public Debate ? which includes feedback forms for you to complete.
