TAVISTOCK Athletic Club is organising its first off road race, called Less than 10K, on Saturday, August 13, and all local runners and hashers are all invited.
The course, of approximately six miles, will be using some of the Tamar Trials in the Tamar Valley, with the start and finish only three miles from Tavistock at the Bedford Sawmills car park, just off the A390, with race headquarters at the Treesurfers Cafe alongside.
The trials pass mainly through woodland but there are good views of the valley and there is only one sharp descent and gradual climb with much of the course using the old railway track bed. The race is therefore suitable for all runners. There is a medal for all finishers and prizes for the first men and ladies and first in the six male and female age groups. Numbers are limited to 150, so enter soon!
Entry forms and more details from the club's website http://www.tavistockathletics.com">www.tavistockathletics.com or obtained from Keith Bowles on 01822 613607.
The entry fee will be £10 but £8 for members of England Athletic affiliated clubs with a competition licence. Entries will be accepted on the day, but will cost £2 more.
TAC hopes that it will become an annual event. It is held under UKA rules.
The club would like to thank Steeltech for its sponsorship and Tamar Valley AONB and Treesurfers Cafe for their support.
Local runners may wish to note that the Tavy 7 is back again this year with the probable date of October 23. More details to follow.
