VOLUNTEERS are needed to join in a '60-minute makeover' at the United Reformed Church in Tavistock on October 3.

People are being asked to bring along paintbrushes and rollers for an hour between 9am and 4pm to re-paint the Lower Deck Hall.

The Rev Roger Cornish said: 'We were forced to re-plaster part of the hall after dealing with some rising damp. This has necessitated re-decoration.

'We are grateful to Focus DIY which has given us a generous discount on materials but we could not afford to engage professional painters as we are at present raising money to replace the church roof.

'We are hoping people will come along and enjoy working with others to make the hall bright and welcoming again.'
