A WEST Devon social club is hoping people on their own and dreading the forthcoming Christmas festivities will get in touch and make the holiday one to remember. Devon Social Group says Christmas can be a hard time for people on their own or with no family in the area. Spokesman Cathy Haglington said: ?Not everyone has a works do to look forward to or a family Christmas and New Year to be amongst loved ones. ?Many people do not find it easy to walk into a pub on their own ? for some the festive period can be a very lonely, very sad and downright miserable time.? Cathy said the Devon Social Group could help people find friends, other people to talk to and could provide social events which were open to all. ?Men and women are welcome from all walks of life and all professions. The group organises parties, nights out, dinners and a variety of activities,? said Cathy. ?The aim is to have some fun and good times and to make more of life. ?People can come along to all our events on their own ? organisers will meet people and help make them feel welcome and included.?
