A GROUP of West Devon volunteers recently joined the outdoor conservation group Tavistock Taskforce to mark Make A Difference Day 2013.

The volunteers, brought together by Billie Burnett, volunteering services co-ordinator at West Devon CVS, were welcomed by Peter O'Dell and the members of Tavistock Taskforce, to help manage the heath at Yelverton.

Cutting back the gorse while battling wind and rain was a combined effort — but they all enjoyed the bonfire at the end to warm them up.

Every autumn all over the country, people get involved in carrying out all kinds of activities to make a difference in their local community.

Those taking part often find themselves experiencing something new, making new friends, and enjoying the satisfaction of achieving a task.
