CHILDREN and families will be able to join in the challenge of this year?s Ruby Run, after organisers decided to add a one-mile fun run on the day of the popular half-marathon. As well as the 13-mile run from Hatherleigh to Holsworthy through the picturesque Ruby Country, there will be a one-mile fun run held in the Holsworthy area on Sunday, June 12. For all those who take part in the Ruby Fun Run there will be medals awarded. For those who want a longer distance but are not yet ready to run a half-marathon, walkers will be equally welcome to come along and take their own time tackling the scenic route between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. After the huge success of the previous two years? events, organisers are hoping this year?s half-marathon will be bigger and better than ever. Hatherleigh Silver Band will play at the start of the event before heading off to join Holsworthy?s band at the finish in the town?s square. All proceeds from the day will be divided between the respective town bands and the Devon Air Ambulance. Last year?s event raised £4,200, which was split equally between Hatherleigh Day Centre, Holsworthy Day Centre and CLIC.
