ANYONE looking for a good day out this Sunday, April 6, should look no further than Spooners and West Dartmoor point-to-point at Cherrybrook near Tavistock ? first race 12.30pm.
Good entries have been received for all races. Mary Tavy owner Eric Wonnacott has entered his promising home-bred mare Elegant Light in the members? and restricted races and following her win at Black Forest Lodge appears to be in with an excellent chance.
Chris Cox?s Indiana Jones, Maiden winner at the Lamerton Meeting, looks promising as does R Long?s Baldu Jack and Messrs Heard?s consistently placed Bill Me Up, who could go one better here, while Lydford Castle should not be ignored.
Lamerton ladies open winner Phoenix Flyer will be given a hard race by Hasten Bak and either of Sue Young?s mounts Belitlir or Saint Joseph.
The open race seems likely to produce an excellent contest but lacks the interest of local horses.
The novices rider?s race is always interesting but not necessarily a safe medium for betting! Mike Smale?s two entries Son of Courage and Straight Courage both from his good mare Fort Courage provide interest in the maiden race.
Bookmakers will be in attendance and there will be a licensed bar, refreshments and the usual entertainment stalls. In view of the dry weather work will be carried out on the course throughout the week and it is expected that going on the day will be good.
