The Fishermen's Mission charity is inviting walkers to join in an exciting and unmissable sponsored Midnight Madness walk across Dartmoor in July. The circular, approximately 14-mile walk, starts at 9pm on Saturday July 21 at Walkhampton, and, depending on stamina and ability, will take about five to six hours. By joining in this exciting and unusual walk people will be helping the Fishermen's Mission to continue in its work of caring for shipwrecked and injured fishermen, and care and support of the widows and children of fishermen lost at sea. Walkers can experience the wilderness and sounds of the moor at night with only the moonlight and torchlight to guide their way. This magical experience is supervised by the experts — the Plymouth team of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue, some of whose members are pictured left.
