RESIDENTS living in Tavistock's south west ward can expect to see a new councillor in their midst as the final vacancy for a town councillor was filled at the full council meeting last week.

Two candidates applied for the remaining position of a councillor on the ward, but with successful applicants needing more than 50% of the votes it was Lynne Rose who was co-opted onto the council.

Mrs Rose told the councillors that she had loved Tavistock since she was a teenager, and feels it is a 'special' town full of 'charm and character'. Now she lives in Tavistock, she wanted an opportunity to be part of a team that helps to shape the town.

Cllr Rose said: 'I'm very passionate about Tavistock, I love it here. It is a privilege to be on the council and I'm very excited to be working with the other councillors to keep up the town's traditions and keep it a beautiful place to live.'
