THE stormy weather has played havoc with Tavistock Golf Club's ladies fixtures but it did not affect Lyn Swift who won the Alice Rose Trophy.
Played in conjunction with the monthly Stableford, Lyn came in with 36 points. In division one Maggie Hillman had 34pts on countback from Dawn Phillott while in division two, in second place after Lyn, was Ginny Samborne with 33pts on countback from Teresa Hughes. These were all good scores in such awful weather.
Strong winds and heavy showers did not deter the ladies and their guests from playing in the Ladies Guest Day.
Wendy Wroe and her guest Jane Wright, had an excellent 39pts and were the winners of the Rosemary Cook Trophy. Nicky Gawman and her guest Gilly Jarvis were second on countback with 36pts from Chris Gee and Jenny Seabourne. Nearest the pin and the longest drive were for guests only and were won respectively by Teresa Holt and Jane Wright.
Eighty six players took to the course for the Men's Guest Day. Winners, with a superb score of 46pts, were Rick Crawford and his guest Rick Cheadle. Second were Alan Roach and his partner Richard Trafford with 44pts.
In third place, on countback over the last six holes, were Tom Dodd and guest Gerald Crump with 43pts. The two Ricks also won the Albert Rouse Trophy.
In the men's monthly Stableford in division one first was Dave Burge with 39pts on countback from James Macfarlane and Steve Thackham. Division two was won by Mike Roe on 43pts on countback from Peter Page.
In division three the scores were more evenly spread — first Richard Burrow on 39pts; second Colin McCormick on 37pts and third Ron Jago on 36pts.
In the monthly medal and Captain's Prize competition Mike Apps, in division one, had a nett 68; second Colin Nolan with a 70 and in third place Alan Gawman 71. In division two - first Mike James 74; second Richard Rowe 75; third Ray Barnes 75.
The scores also counted as a club qualifier for the club championship. The semi-finals and finals for the championship will be played on September 12.
