LYDFORD sports field played host to the Lydford Spring Fair and the Safety on Dartmoor Day on Saturday, May 28.
The fair has been running in the village for many years, but 2016 was only the second year that the sports field also hosted the Safety on Dartmoor Day. The event gave visitors the opportunity to meet the people who keep everyone safe on and around Dartmoor. Safety experts performed demonstrations and gave visitors the chance to look at their equipment, find out how it is used and find out more about the organisations in attendance, including Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
As well as the safety element, all the fun of a traditional village fair was also on offer including games, a dog show, cakes and teas and the judging of the inaugural Dartmoor Village Schools’ Art Competition. 2443 Okehampton Air Training Corps were also present for the event and the cadets’ band performed.
