Okehampton 6
Plymouth Marjon D 3
AFTER snow prevented any play last week Okehampton were a bit rusty having not been able to train for three weeks.
The game started brightly with Okehampton controlling the majority of possession, creating a couple of good openings which the forwards were unable to convert.
It didn't take long for the home side to take the lead and it was Chris Luxton who slotted home after a great pass from Luke Miller.
Okehampton continued to attack and got their second when Luxton squeezed it past the goalkeeper after being left unmarked.
Mark Parsons missed three good chances before the visitors managed to pull a goal back.
Half-time arrived and the hosts had fallen off the pace a little and the second half couldn't have started any worse as Marjons equalised.
But Okehampton rallied and straight from the restart they went up the other end and Luxton got his hat-trick, he then added a fourth after good work from Dave Dennis, Simon Bourne and Parsons down the right.
Okehampton were looking comfortable until more slack defending let the away side score again, Marjons sensing they could still have a chance.
Although it was always unlikely and when Parsons got his goal after an unselfish pass from Luxton it was all over. Parsons struck again from a short corner and Okehampton were in control with their midfield dominating proceedings, a good performance but with second in the league next weekend Okehampton will have to improve to take the points from that game.
