Okehampton 4
Bodmin 2
OKEHAMPTON men's hockey team continued their good run of form on Saturday.
From the push back Okehampton attacked, and quickly ran the ball up into the Bodmin circle, Chris Luxton scored with a mis-hit shot from the edge of the D.
Bodmin responded almost immediately and Okehampton conceded a short corner, which the opposition duly converted.
Okehampton tightened their game and put together some good moves. Both Simon Bourne and Tim Morgan made penetrating runs down the flanks.
Pressure on the Bodmin circle earned short corners for Okehampton and Richard Jones scored their second following one. Good teamwork and clever passing created many opportunities and Luxton added Okehampton's third goal before half-time.
Bodmin came out in the second half with more purpose and closed Okehampton down quickly, scoring another goal.
Okehampton worked hard to regain control. Tim Morgan, tackling and running endlessly to earn man of the match, helped to inspire the team and using the width of the pitch sensibly Okehampton dominated. A string of accurate passes set Simon Garland up in the circle and his delicate flick beat the outstretched keeper.
This week Okehampton travel to play Truro A.
