RE the leisure and recreational survey from West Devon Borough Council, Brian Martin (Letters, Februry 23) was quite right to have concerns regarding question 16 of the survey. It relates to the Meadowlands swimming pool funding and is indeed very worrying. Extra funding raised from the council tax to pay for additional features is totally unacceptable in today?s climate of ever increasing charges for council tax and all of the other utilities. There are already many council tax payers who, having already contributed to the Meadowlands set up, find themselves unable to enjoy the facilities because of the costs involved. They are prohibitive for those on fixed incomes, some who would benefit from those facilities are unable to do so. To expect them to pay for the extra additions in their council tax is ludicrous.
