STAFF and children from Okehampton College said goodbye to Elizabeth Hayter on Friday, who has retired as the principal's personal secretary after eight years in the job.
Elizabeth, who will be replaced by Gillian Tremain, said it had been a wonderful eight years and she would miss everyone a lot.
She will be joining her husband Howard Hayter who retired earlier this year as area co-ordinator of the Devon Air Ambulance.
'There is a lovely working atmosphere at the college — everybody is helpful and friendly and I will miss all the laughter,' she said. 'I wish Gillian every success.'
Personal secretary to Philip Herriman and then Chris Powell, who took over the principal's position in January, Elizabeth said she was leaving at a time when the school was going from strength to strength.
Mr Powell said she had been a valuable, loyal servant to the college and would be a hard act to follow.
