INDEPENDENT Ballet Wales comes to Tavistock?s Wharf theatre next week, to present a tale of heroism and heartbreak, love and disloyalty from the pages of the Maginogi, one of the great classics of European literature. The Bride of Flowers is the story of Llew, the lion of the steady hand, and his bride Blodeuwedd, made from the blossoms of the oak and the broom of the meadowsweet, who was the fairest and most graceful maiden that man ever saw. Gwydion overtook Blodeuwedd and said to her: ?I will not slay thee, for I would do worse than that. I will turn thee into a bird and thou shall ever show thy face in the light of day.? Magicians Math and Mathonwy, powerful incantations, transformations and the origin of the owl highlight this beautiful and elemental production. It is an innovative new ballet of the supernatural, featuring vibrant costumes, original and stunning choreography and haunting music. The Bride of Flowers takes to the stage at The Wharf on Saturday September 29 at 7.30pm. Box office: 01822 611166.
