A WIDE range of Tamar Valley crafts and foods will be on offer at the Harrowbarrow and Metherell Christmas Market this Sunday, raising funds towards the development of the community orchard in the villages.

Goods on offer will include Christmas decorations and wreaths, Rob Fierick ceramics, MyBeadyEye jewellery, Kit Hill alpacas, Tamar Grow Local, the Cornish Crisp Company and many more makers and producers from the area.

Organiser Rachael Forster said: 'The Tamar Valley has such a lot of amazing artists and makers so it will be lovely to bring them together for a Christmas market in the villages.'

Harrowbarrow and Metherell's community orchard, located opposite St Dominick Park, is already in development with the first traditional Tamar Valley varieties of apple trees planted. The orchard also houses bees and for a few months of the year, the village's 'Pig Society' — a group of pigs raised for pork and cared for by villagers.

Eventually it is hoped the orchard will be a beautiful community space for everyone to enjoy with a range of events taking place throughout the year to encourage learning about the Tamar Valley's growing heritage as well as practical skills such as bee-keeping, hedge-laying and orchard management.

The Christmas market will run from 11am to 4pm at the village hall.
