SPARKS will be flying at the next Tavistock Arts and Makers' Market, which takes place on Saturday, June 15, when blacksmith artist Garry Johnson is anticipated to be demonstrating his skills
The markets take place on Bedford Square in front of the town hall in Tavistock from 9am until 4pm on particular Saturdays throughout 2013 (June 15, August 17, October 5, and November 16).
Local artist Cheryl Reeves (Moorwishes) and her husband Mark are organising the new look arts market in partnership with Tavistock Town Council and others.
All are looking forward to more successful local arts promotion and trading.
Cheryl said: 'Visitors to the market will find a unique range of products not found on the high street, and, have a chance to meet the artists and makers themselves.
'Many thanks go to Tessa Clarke, West Devon Borough Council, Tavistock Farmers' Market and all previously involved artists and visitors to the Bank Square arts market initiative.'
For December there will be special Christmas arts and makers markets arranged for December 8 and 22, indoors at Tavistock's pannier market.
The market seeks to provide a trading and promotional space for local artists and makers to exhibit and sell their high quality and locally produced handmade wares including: paintings, ceramics, metal work, glass, woodwork, jewellery, textiles, photography and many other original creations.
Regulars include: artist blacksmith Gary Johnson; ceramicists Susie Jones, Jess Turner and Terry Davis; luminosity artist Tracey Morriss: jewellers Val Muddyman and Liz Cullen, and painters Sue Crow and Cheryl Reeves amongst many others.
