Tavistock Men's B 2

Old Plymothians and Mannameadians Seconds 4

AFTER last week's excellent performance Tavistock Men's B team were hoping for a similar display on Saturday. The team started well but failed to capitalise on some early chances and OPM made them pay with a well-worked goal after 15 minutes. Andrews had a further chance to level the score only to be thwarted by a fine save by the OPM goalie.

As usual Tavistock had to endure numerous short corners during the match where Mason made a couple of crucial clearances. Wheatley, Curno and Mills had some fine interplay in midfield despite the scrappy game. Tavistock were giving OPM too much time and space and soon found themselves two goals down.

Only Osbourne saved the home side from conceding a third with a superb diving save near the end of the half. Shortly afterwards Richards ended a fine Tavistock move to go into the break trailing 2-1.

Tavistock showed a marked improvement in their effort and focus during the second half. Holland in particular made some great runs from midfield which kept OPM on the defensive. Crucial defensive errors by Tavistock gave OPM two more goals mid way through the second half. Showing their battling spirit Tavistock raised their game. Shepherd made some fine tackles and combined well with Edwards down the right wing. Richards and Andrews created several good chances and from one of these Curno snuck in a second goal.

Luck though wasn't with the home side and the game ended with Tavistock disappointed with their overall performance.
