Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 1 Liskeard 1st XI 3 WITH the end of the season approaching this was a crucial game for Tavistock Ladies to win. It opened with Tavistock under attack and put under pressure very early on in the ?D?. Laura Stapleton and Fiona Dunn worked hard to clear any major attack but it was obvious that Tavistock were purely outnumbered in the ?D?. A short corner was awarded to Liskeard from which they scored their first goal. Tavistock had to lift their game but the whole match seemed disjointed and players were not linking as well as in previous games. Jo Gaspar played well in midfield and with Sarah Barratt these two players helped to form some structure to allow the forwards to link with. Julia Firth was battling well and it was with herself, Judy Miller and Barratt that allowed Barratt to score Tavistock?s goal. Firth switched the ball to Miller who pushed to Barratt who scored. With things now back on an equal footing, Tavistock tried to lift their game and in brief glimpses of the game it was apparent but not consistent enough. Laura Armstrong had some good runs up the pitch and Robynne Honey had to work hard to outwit her opponent on the wing. The half-time score was 1-1 but Tavistock knew they were going to change their game play if they were to win this match. Emma White battled well and gave some wonderful crosses into the ?D? but no player managed to get on the end of them. Liskeard scored again early in the second-half again from a short corner from the post. Tavistock could not find that spark which has been evident in many of their games this season and before long Liskeard scored their third goal. It would have been more were it not for goalkeeper, Bex Creasy, who saved some good shots. Zoe Viggers played well and started to channel the player into exactly the correct place on the pitch - off the back line! When Lisa Butler was on the forward line she managed to shake things up a little but it was not enough on this occasion. The final score was 3-1 to Liskeard. A day on which Tavistock Ladies did not get beaten they lost the game! This week Tavistock play a semi-final match of the Devon Cup against Exmouth 2nd XI at Exmouth.
