LANDOWNERS and developers are being asked to come up with suggestions for possible sites in West Devon where future development could take place.
It is part of a review done every few years aimed at helping West Devon Borough Council to identify the best sites for housing and employment for the next ten to 15 years.
The strategic housing land availability assessment is required by national planning policy and helps the council to meet the community's need for more homes and jobs.
Cllr Philip Sanders, leader of the council, said: 'There is sometimes confusion about the role of this review. It does not mean suggested sites will be allocated for development or gain planning permission.
'It is simply an exercise to find out what land in the borough might be capable of accommodating development in the future so we can compile a register. I would urge people to think about their local area and let us know if there is a suitable site.'
Landowners and developers can also suggest land that could support gypsy and traveller sites in the future.
West Devon is carrying out the review with its neighbouring authority, South Hams.
