AN appeal for volunteer drivers has this week been issued by Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).
The past two years have seen transport become crucial for people accessing health and social appointments from the Tavistock and outlying areas.
During this time TASS has developed a core of volunteer car drivers to help support those who are unable to get around due to age, frailty or isolation.
In May these drivers covered more than 5,000 miles helping to get people to their appointments.
General manager Andy Lyle said: 'Each month the miles increase, each month the requests for help are more, each month we need more drivers to help cover the miles, enabling people in our local community to access medical appointments.'
TASS is looking for anyone living in Lifton, Broadwoodwidger, Lewdown, Mary Tavy, Princetown,Yelverton, Horrabridge, Bere Peninsula, Milton Abbot, Lamerton, Tavistock and anywhere in between, who may be able to offer a morning or afternoon a week to help local people.
