OKEHAMPTON Town Council is looking for a new councillor following the resignation of one of its members. The town council has 14 seats, and following the departure of Richard Boyce, the council is once again without a full complement of councillors. A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if by Thursday, August 28, ten electors for the ward give notice in writing claiming such an election to the returning officer. If no such notice is given, the town council will fill the role by co-option. The council is hoping to attract a wide range of applicants representing and reflecting the make-up of the community served by the council.
