A TALK on the life of prolific 19th century writer Sabine Baring-Gould will take place in his home village, Lewtrenchard, next week.

The talk will be given by Keith Lister, author of Half My Life, the story of Baring-Gould.

Baring-Gould wrote approximately 40 novels covering travel, religion, folklore, local legend and folksong. Many of them were set in the West Country.

He was Rector and Esquire of Lewtrenchard, and is well known for composing the hymn Onward Christian Soldiers.

The talk, which includes wine and snacks, is at 7.30pm, Friday June 6 at St Peter?s, and donations will go to Lewtrenchard church.
