FOLLOWING on from recent correspondence I am writing to say how I admire my friend Hilda Frost for being brave enough to speak out about our day centre cuts.

However, her case is only the tip of the iceberg, as I know of several other ladies who have been excluded and have been in tears and terribly upset.

I am aged 89 and have also been attending the day centre for 20 years and after an interrogation lasting two hours I was told that my days at the day centre had also been cut, as well as my home care visits.

The day centre provides wonderful stimulation and interest for the elderly, most of whom are housebound, with quizzes, games, music and wonderful care by the staff.

Recently, several of us wrote down our life stories up to 1950. With the help of the staff these stories were published in book form and sold well. With a forward by Judy Spiers, it was called he ?Harvest of Years?. Sadly three of those involved have since died. Where else would this happen? We are all good friends, please let us continue to meet.

Come on, Tavistock, look after your senior citizens.

IN answer to Mr Rice?s letter (October 24) I am older and less fit than Mrs Frost, and have been enjoying the amenities of Harewood House Day Centre for two years, but I would willingly let a less fit person who is housebound take my place and enjoy a break there, as I have enjoyed it.

There are two sides to every coin!
