THE long awaited rescheduled King King gig takes place tonight (Friday, July 28) and as with a Joe Bonamassa gig at the Wharf a few years ago, it’s generally felt that this may be their last show before outgrowing the smaller venues and going stratospheric.

Celebrating the recent release of their new single She Don’t Gimme No Loving, the band are gearing up for a mammoth October UK tour to dovetail with the release of their forthcoming album Exile and Grace.

The new album promises to deliver even more of a punch than their previous release Reaching for The Light, with killer songs performed with true passion by a talented line-up.

The album was recorded at Superfly Studios. The first single from the album was mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Feeder and Therapy).

King King’s frontman and guitarist, Alan Nimmo, said: ‘Exile and Grace definitely has a rockier feel and sound to it.

‘We are following our influences from the classic rock genre, including Bad Company, Whitesnake and Thunder. We really set out to challenge ourselves with this album.

‘We’ve stepped up the quality of song-writing and pushed ourselves physically in both performance and delivery.’

King King promise a brilliant show, embodying all that is great about classic rock music, with great fan engagement and technical brilliance.

Since their live debut shook the Monaghan Blues Festival in 2010, King King have woven their magic across continents, hauling in a raft of fans, plaudits and awards along the way.

Drummer Wayne Proctor and bassist Lindsay Coulson provide a strong rhythm section, enhanced by the dazzling fingers of Bob Fridzema on Hammond organ and keyboard. Heading the band is virtuoso frontman Alan Nimmo, whose vocals and full-blooded guitar playing mark King King as one of the most exciting rock/blues bands on the circuit.

King King’s 2011 debut album Take My Hand was crowned Blues Album of the Month in Classic Rock Magazine. Their sophomore effort Standing in The Shadows was included in Classic Rock Blues magazine’s Top 50 Albums of 2013.

They followed this up by winning Best Album and Best Band at the 2012 and the 2014 British Blues Awards.

2015 saw the band fly even higher with the release of their third album, Reaching For The Light. King King were nominated for Best New Band at Classic Rock’s prestigious Roll of Honour Awards and were inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame for three consecutive band wins.

The group have played in all corners of the globe. From the Mahindra Festival in India, to the Ottawa Bluesfest in Canada, as well as numerous other festivals throughout Europe.

In 2016 they even carried out a UK arena tour with a great influence on their work, Thunder. The tour included playing to over 10,000 people at Wembley Arena and a sell-out headline show on home turf in Glasgow.
