MORE than 100 people took part in Okehampton Choral Society's annual spring concert at Fairplace Church. The Ockment Players, who came from as far afield as Penzance, Truro and East Devon, provided the accompaniment for a varied and lively programme. The Choral Society performed the Brahms Requiem, which was preceded by music by Mozart and Bach and an organ solo by Philip Davey, the organist of Truro Methodist Church. Soloists Katherine Bond from London and Roger Cleverdon from Hatherleigh delighted the audience with their contribution. The musical director was John Holland. The Choral Society will be presenting a programme of lighter music for their summer concerts around the district, starting at Fairplace on Monday, June 23 and then on June 30 at South Tawton and finally at Black Torrington on July 7.
