A BUDDING impresario from West Devon has formed her own theatre company with her friends to stage the J M Barrie classic Peter Pan in Hatherleigh. The Little Goats Theatre is an all-girl group of teenage drama enthusiasts who have banded together to put on the play, which gets its premiere this weekend. The project was instigated by 13-year-old Shivani Price, a student at Okehampton College, who has written her own script from the original story and recruited fellow students for the cast to stage this family favourite. Shivani said: ?I chose Peter Pan because it was my Dad?s favourite book when he was little and I like the story too.? And Shivani is taking a real hands-on approach ? as well as writing the script, acting in and directing the play, she is making the majority of the costumes and designing the set! She said she came up with the idea of staging her own play before the summer holidays and invited friends in her drama class to join in. The theatre company now boasts around 25 members with an age range from the youngest being 12 to the oldest who is 16. She said rehearsals were going ?really well? and had been a lot of fun. However, once the production was over, Shivani said she was intending to concentrate simply on acting for a while. ?I think it is just a one-off production. It has been a lot of hard work.? ?I have always been really interested in drama from a very young age,? said Shivani. ?One day I would like to work in the West End although that is very difficult to break into.? Peter Pan will be performed at Hatherleigh Town Hall on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19.
