FOLLOWING the success of their first 'Event in the Tent' back in August, the Lions Club of Tavistock is back under canvas in the town centre this coming Saturday, with their sale of good quality second hand books and home made cakes.
The Lions will be located in two of the town council marquees on the pannier market side of the wrought iron gates by the town hall, as there is a farmers' market in the square on the same day.
The stalls will be open from 9.30am through to 2pm and in addition to the books and cakes, the Lions will be selling raffle tickets for a superb hamper worth around £70, donated to the club by Crebers Ltd. Also on sale will be the club's Christmas draw tickets where the main prize this year is a limited edition and signed print of a painting by Timmy Mallett entitled 'Sunflowers in France' donated to the club by the Tavistock Picture Framing Company Ltd.
The Lions say they are delighted with the continued and most generous support given to the club by local business and the people of the town, and are also indebted to the town council for allowing them the use of the space and loan of the two tents.
