TAVISTOCK?S annual flower show will bloom again this year despite fears it would not take place. The town?s Lions Club stepped in when usual organisers the Tavistock and District Gardening Club announced the show would not be happening for various reasons. The Lions felt it would be a great loss to the community if the event was to finish. So with full support of members of the gardening club, the Lions became involved to ensure its continuation. It will take place, under canvas, in Tavistock Meadows on July 9 as part of Carnival Week?s ?Fun in the Meadows.? The competition classes will be much the same as in previous years so it is time for the gardeners, flower arrangers, photographers and budding chefs to start thinking about what they wish to enter. There will also be classes for children, including flowers, miniature gardens and painting. Lions Club members are encouraging people to enter and will be contacting schools and clubs in the near future. Local traders are also being sought to help with sponsorship.
