PRESIDENT of the Tavistock Lions’ Club Paul Blowey switched on the newly purchased lights on this year’s Trees of Light, following which was a short interdenominational service lead by the local clergy.

Paul thanked Simon Luke of Morris Bros. (Tavistock) Ltd for his continued financial support that ensures all of the sponsorship income goes to the nominated charities, which this year are CLIC Sargent, Marie Curie and Parkinsons UK.

He also thanked Tavistock Town Council works department for collecting, erecting and decorating the trees, South West Lakes Trust for donating the three superb trees, the Tavistock Times Gazette for publishing the sponsorship form, John Collacott for providing the PA system and Stannary Brass Band and the Tapestry Choir for the music and song during the service.
