LIAM Yeo of Kelly College was named as Player of the Year for Ivybridge Rugby Club Under 13 team awards evening following a rewarding season for his new club. Liam started his rugby career at Bude at the age of 7, moving to Launceston. Then, in November 2004 he joined Ivybridge to ensure that his school and club rugby were played in the same county. Liam helped his club reach the final of the Devon Club Cup where they provided stiff opposition to Devonport Services, only to have their early lead overturned following an injury to one of their key players. The squad also visited Lancashire at Easter to take on a strong team from Preston, also cup finalists in their own county, and after a highly competitive match the Ivybridge 15 claimed victory by a conversion. Along with a number of his fellow team mates, Liam was selected for the Under 13 Devon training squad and he captained the South Hams team to victory in a Devon tournament against five other inter-county regional teams. While the rugby season has now finished, Liam has turned his attention to other sports, competing for his school at cricket, athletics and swimming. He gained two Western Counties qualifying times in swimming and joined the Kelly swim squad in Sheffield for the B final of the National Speedo League competition.
