Devon League E division
Kenn v Lewdown
HAVING lost the toss again and being asked to bat Lewdown amassed a new club record 295 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Lewdown openers went cheaply against Kenn?s opening spin attack, bringing Greg Sleep and Dean Summersby to the crease. Sleep batted with great authority, smashing 65 in short time. Summersby, who was suffering from ?flu, batted well for his 52. The main contribution came from Jack Skuse, who scored a fluent and fine 81 no and was ably supported at the end of the innings by Charlie Hughes and Angus Murray.
Kenn made their intentions clear from the start of their innings, scoring 32 runs in the first 2 overs, with their overseas professional from India looking dangerous.
A fluctuating innings saw both sides? fortunes rise and fall, with Kenn needing only 50 runs off the last 7 overs. Astute bowling changes eventually saw Kenn bowled out for 260, with Angus Murray picking up 4-54 and Ade Edmonds 3-57.
Lewdown picked up 20 points for their efforts and remain in fifth place, one point behind fourth, and closing the gap on the top two teams in the division who both drew.
Saturday, home to Cockington.
