Lewdown Blues v Whitchurch

LEWDOWN Blues won their first game of the season, beating Whitchurch by 102 runs.

The Lewdown boys were eager to put into practice what they had learnt following their intensive winter training. Batting first Lewdown only lost one wicket in their 20 overs, scoring 305 runs in the process. Their running between the wickets, backing up and calling was excellent.

Callum Worth top scored with 13 not out, ably assisted by Jacob Brown 10 no and Finn Beldon 10 no.

The Blues have a fine mix of bowlers with pace, swing, seam, leg spin and left arm spin, all of whom bowled with good control, taking wickets regularly. Worth took for 4-7, ably assisted by Beldon (2wkts), Matt Owen (2) and Adam Creasey (1).

Brenden Worth, Lewdown's club development officer, said: 'It was a pleasure to watch the boys putting into practice their new found skills and celebrate the teams successes with such vigor.'
