ON the subject of Yelverton Roundabout: traditionally the meeting of ways was considered just the place for a signpost or a gibbet.

We already have a nice old signpost on Yelverton roundabout and the move to restore and preserve it should be applauded.

A gibbet, on the other hand, would be likely to distract motorists; so too would a striking piece of sculpture.

Yet an unremarkable sculpture would at best be irrelevant and at worst an eyesore (as remarked in last week's letters).

So let's stick to the signpost, the flowering trees and some pretty bulbs.
