A WEST Devon primary school has bucked a trend to reintroduce the traditional game of conkers at school.
At a time when many schools outlaw conkers amid concerns about nut allergies as well as injuries in combat, St. Andrew's at Buckland Monachorum even set up a competition across the school.
With no goggles in sight, Year 6 leaders and staff supervised the games.
Deputy headteacher, Justin Jones, said: 'Sometimes health and safety can go too far and we want to educate children to how to take risks in life.'
