A BIRD of prey has gone missing from the Westcountry Falconry after he flew off over the horizon last Thursday. Les, a two-year-old kestrel, is one of six birds of prey Westcountry Falconry uses in sessions to teach people about the creatures. During a session on Thursday in Bere Alston, Les decided he wanted to 'see the sights' and flew off. David Buncle, from Westcountry Falconry, said: 'It was his turn but he decided to fly over the horizon. He could have seen another bird or wanted to go and see the sights – but he went off very purposely. 'He is usually very well behaved. He is one of the smallest birds we have but he is the noisiest so people will be able to hear his squawks.' Les is the size of a pigeon and has various shades of brown on his feathers. David said there were plenty of wild birds around like him but he was the only one with a bell on. If anyone spots Les contact David on 07904 314082.
